VIDEO: Folder Plugin Tutorial

Repeat after me… “Folders are my friends!”

Folders are an amazing way to categorize your plugins so that you can funnel your users to the content in an organized manner.

Example 1:

Let’s say you have a bunch of text plugins that deal with various policies. Instead of putting every single one of these text plugins on the side menu or grid launcher plugin (and making them crazy cluttered), you can create a folder called “Policies” and place the corresponding text plugins inside of it.

Example 2:

We’re pretty sure you have a few social media pages out there. Who doesn’t? Am I right? So instead of putting each one of your social media pages on your side menu or grid launcher plugin, you can create a folder called “Social Media” and place the corresponding text plugins inside of it.

Pro Tip 1: Folders Inside of Folders

Did you know that you can put Folders inside of Folders? Well you can! Let’s say you are using your app for a conference and you want to categorize all of your media, but you have different types of media that you also want to categorize (lectures, workshops, promo video/audio, etc.). You can create your corresponding folder plugins that deal with each of these media types and then create a mater “Media” folder into which you can place these other folder plugins.

Pro Tip 2: Using the WYSIWYG

Use the WYSIWYG to embed images, video, and forms. Check out the “Working with the WYSIWYG” tutorial video to get more information and best practices.

Hi there! And welcome to our Folder Plugin video.

If you haven’t done so already, please be sure to watch our 2-Minute Overview video first before moving onto any other help videos, including this one.

Now, onto the Folder Plugin.

  • The Folder plugin allows you to insert as many plugin instances into it as you’d like.
  • It’s handy for when you want to categorize content so your users can find it quickly.

Creating a Folder Plugin

To add a Folder plugin to your app, go to Plugins and Add Plugin. Find the Folder Plugin, click add, then name it. Here you can add an image or some text to add a bit of pizzazz to your folder. To learn more on how to do this, please see our Text Plugin video.

Now this isn’t a folder until you add some Plugin Instances. Scroll down and click “Add Plugin Instance.

Select all the plugins that you’d like to add to this Folder then click Apply. You can also change the design of your Folder plugin. Just click on the Design tab and you’ll see all the options there.

Adding the Folder Plugin to Your App

Now the plugin has been created and exists, but is not yet accessible to users. You will need to add it to the app on the Home Plugin, inside another Folder Plugin, and/or to the Side Menu. To add it to the Home Plugin, go to Home Plugin, scroll down and click “Add Plugin Instance”. Now select the Folder Plugin you created.

To add it to another Folder Plugin, navigate to the Folder Plugin and click on “Add Plugin Instance”. To add it to the Side Menu, go to Plugins then Side Menu and click on “Add Plugin Instance”.

Your Folder plugin is now accessible within your app. Tapping on it will take you to a list of plugin instances neatly organized so your users can find them quickly. Don’t forget to click Publish to push out your changes. If you haven’t upgraded, please upgrade so that you can publish your changes. Thank you so much for watching. Be sure to check out our other Help Videos and we’ll see you next time!
